Will Obama remember those who died crossing the U.S./México Border?

Día de Los Muertos is a holiday originating in México and is celebrated October 31 through November 2. A day to commemorate and honor loved ones who have passed, Día de Los Muertos is a dear and important holiday for many in particularly México and Central America. This year the Legalization for All Network (L4A) is honoring those who passed attempting to cross the U.S./México Border. Will President Obama and his administration also remember those who died crossing the U.S./México Border?

New graves and burial sites are continuously discovered around and on both sides of the U.S./México Border. Undocumented immigrants crossing the border know they must destroy all evidence of the lives they once had in their countries of origin. If they are caught while crossing the border, and are deported any evidence tying them to their real identity will destroy any chance they might have of ever being legalized in the U.S. Knowing they will be untraceable if death is to occur, undocumented immigrants embark on this dangerous journey for a better future.

The militarization at the border and unmonitored minute-men taking the law into their own hands, are the number one threat for undocumented immigrants attempting to cross the border. With BILLIONS of U.S. dollars spent on continuing with the border militarization, and without an all-advancing immigration reform up for approval and no sign of stopping deportations, L4A is urging you to take action. This Día de Los Muertos L4A is sponsoring a national push for Deferred Action to apply to ALL undocumented immigrants.

Hundreds of thousands of undocumented who were brought here as children now are finding at least temporary relief with Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA program. They are now able to work, get a driver’s license, and come out of the shadows. Their parents and siblings who don’t qualify are under constant threat of deportation. The Legalization for All (L4A) Network calls on Obama to grant deferred action to them and to all the undocumented. As long as Congress refuses to act, why should Obama keep deporting those who might be eligible for a legalization program in the future? Rather than bowing again to the Republicans and right-wing anti-immigrant forces, Obama ought to look them in the eye and tell that he is going to take action since they refuse to.
